I’ve done this merry little dance twice now and thought it’s time to document it.
Outlook started to behave really really slowly for me reading and opening messages, so I found that it’s due to the restricted sites list in Internet Explorer. So in IE under the Tools, Options - Advanced there is a Reset Internet Explorer Settings button which clears the restricted sites list (and other things too I imagine).
I use Firefox for my browsing so blowing away IEs settings doesn’t bother me. The restricted sites keeps getting populated by Spybot Search and Destroy (bless it’s heart).
Anyhow once that is done and Outlook is not pausing all the time, I noticed that I’ve lost my status bar from File Explorer. I can turn it on, but navigating to any other folder makes it disappear again. sigh
Its due to a missing registry key which I guess got blown away in the IE settings reset.
