MediaMonkey is an MP3 player and library organiser that seems to be a little more to my taste than songbird was. It allows you to see your entire collection in a nice library view that is similar to winamp, but just a little easier to get in an change things. Doesn’t seem to interface with last.fm though, so for the moment I’ve got it still playing through winamp.

SpamPal sits between your email program and your mailbox to check your incoming mail and tag it appropriately. You simply configure your email client to filter anything with this header into a separate folder and your spam won’t be mixed up with the rest of your email any more!
XnView is an efficient multimedia browser and file converter. I wasn’t really keen on Ifran view, and this just works the way you’d expect.
Asynx Planetarium is a wonderfully simple way to get a view of which stars you can see in the night sky.
The CPUid people have released a new version of PC Wizard the system hardware detection and analysis. They also produce CPU-Z which I use almost daily in the field to find out what hardware is inside the case without having to reach for a screwdriver.
FreeMind is a mind mapping software to let you get your thoughts out onto paper in the most effortless way possible. They also have a version that runs on my phone, so I can start the process in the field and then finish and polish on the desktop.
Phrogram is a language for programming students. With downloadable source code to Pong, Tetris and a Spyhunter type game it gives instant feedback for your efforts.
