New York Magazine have produced a fantastic book for getting along in increasingly crowded cities.
I found a nice overview of the current state of practice (for the US as least).
I saw a post at Fabrice Grinda’s site talking about this amazing article on happiness.
They find that most people have a mean level of happiness that is largely genetic and hard to deviate from as people quickly assimilate any changes in their life circumstances – a process called “hedonic adaptation.” However, they do find 9 ways to systematically improve happiness (in no particular order): 1. Don’t equate happiness with money. 2. Exercise regularly. 3. Have sex. 4. Devote time and effort to close relationships. 5. Pause for reflection, meditate on the good things in life. 6. Seek work that engages your skills, look to enjoy your job. 7. Give your body the sleep it needs. 8. Don’t pursue happiness for its own sake, enjoy the moment. 9. Take control of your life, set yourself achievable goals.
I noticed that google maps have got Brisbane, Australia mapped out. Very nice interface and good transfer rates mean that I’ll be dumping the UBD on disk. Googles interface is far superior.
Mouse potatoes have joined couch potatoes, google has officially become a verb and drama queens have finally found the limelight, as they cross over from popular culture to mainstream English language. Guess I’m a mouse potatoe then acording to Merriam-Webster.
I found a site which allows you to share bike routes with others.
Having a journal means you get to make fun of those individuals who sorely deserve it.
While at the bank this morning I was entertained by the guy in front of me dressed as a dole bludging homee. He had on the big baggy jeans, a white hoody and a long beanie pulled down over his scraggy hair. Sticking out of one pocket was a copy of the days racing form guide.
He then asked the teller for the $800 he was withdrawing to be in $10’s.
